Coppa Milano-Sanremo Classic Car Rally

The 2011 Coppa Milano-Sanremo will take place from the 11th to the 13th of March. The event will celebrate 150 years of Italian Unity.

For this unique, unrepeatable occasion the route has been modified. Following the pre-event checks in Monza, the cars will parade all the way to Milan.

In Milan extremely rare vehicles manufactured from 1861 to the present day will be exhibited, in order to celebrate 150 years of Italian Unity through 150 years of the history of locomotion.

The event itself will begin on Friday evening. The first leg will end in Turin, the first ever capital city of Italy.

The next morning competitors will leave for a short lunch stop in Sanremo and then they will head along the Riviera di Ponente and inland for the second overnight stop in Genoa. The third leg ends back in Milan with a farewell lunch and an awards ceremony.

The 2011 Coppa Milano-Sanremo will be a classic regularity event for cars manufactured from 1906 to 1981.

Exciting news for 2011: as with the Mille Miglia, Ferraris manufactured from 1982 to the present day will be taking part. The Ferraris will precede the historic/classic cars by about an hour and will follow the same exciting route.

Heroic Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie returns in triumph to his native Scotland this week to play in the 10th Alfred Dunhill Links Championship along with nine other members of his successful European team – Ross Fisher, Peter Hanson, Padraig Harrington, Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell, Edoardo and Francesco Molinari, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood.

Scottish golf fans are certain to turn out in their thousands to salute Montgomerie, back on home soil, after leading his side to a thrilling 14½-13½ win against the United States at Celtic Manor to regain the Ryder Cup.

A wonderful reception is guaranteed for all the players and particularly for US Open champion Graeme McDowell, Europe’s anchor-man, who showed nerve and courage to bring home the final point which clinched victory. McDowell, now one of the most formidable players in world golf, will be hoping to celebrate his Ryder Cup tour-de-force with victory this week at St Andrews, where he lost in a sudden death play-off to Stephen Gallacher in 2004.

In one of the strongest ever line-ups in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, the Ryder Cup heroes will be joined by a world-class international field including three-time major champion Ernie Els, double US Open winner Retief Goosen, former US Open champion Michael Campbell, former Open champion Paul Lawrie, defending champion Simon Dyson and flamboyant American golf star John Daly.

Big-hitting Daly won the 1995 Open Championship at St Andrews and is looking forward to playing again on a course he loves. He also won the US PGA Championship in 1991.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, which celebrates links golf at its finest, is played over three of the world’s best known and respected courses – the Old Course at St Andrews, the Championship Course at Carnoustie and the highly regarded Kingsbarns Golf Links.

With a prize fund of US$5 million, the championship incorporates two separate competitions – an individual professional tournament for the world’s leading golfers and a team event in which the professionals are paired with some of the most celebrated amateur golfers which creates a unique atmosphere.

Celebrities from the world of entertainment include film and TV stars Matthew Goode, Hugh Grant, Samuel L Jackson, Kyle MacLachlan, James Nesbitt, John O’Hurley and Aidan Quinn. Also taking part are rock music legend Huey Lewis and Michael Flatley, the Irish/American step dancer who created the Riverdance, and popular Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans.

The first Alfred Dunhill Links Championship was staged in 2001, but Alfred Dunhill’s support for golf at St Andrews, through the Alfred Dunhill Cup, an international team championship that took place from 1985 to 2000, goes back 26 years.

Entrance to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will be FREE at all three courses on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A ticket price of £15 (concessionary £10) will be charged for the final day’s play over the Old Course on Sunday, October 10. Entry for under 16s and students is free. Mercedes-Benz Presents Designer Carolina Herrera showcased her latest collection on September 13th and was recognized throughout the industry for her impeccable style and sophisticated designs. Beyond the runway designs Mercedes-Benz featured two new sleek vehicle displays with 2011 E550 Cabriolet and custom design Mauritius Blue paint and porcelain interior that also incorporated this season’s key visual with Mercedes?Benz Brand Ambassador Milla Jovovich, and a first look at the new 2011 CL63 AMG in Magnetized Black edition paint. A highlight of the event was the collaboration between design consultant Carlos Mota and fashion icon IMAN to create the Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge, the first display of the new IMAN Home design collection. The lounge played host to dozens of celebrities and designers throughout the week.

 ‘Savile Row Field Day’ will see the world’s most prestigious tailoring location close to traffic as dozens of sheep graze in specially laid pasture on the Row. Watched over by two farmers, the first dressed in an Anderson & Sheppard bespoke suit created using Fox Brothers’ new ‘West of England’ cloth produced from wool sourced from Exmoor Horn sheep, with the second farmer dressed for the unique occasion by Gieves & Hawkes in Dormeuil’s Made in England, Dormysport cloth.

As the sheep graze, visitors will be welcome to open house events and tours of the Row’s most famous tailoring houses to learn how wool is used by the great British mills, such as Fox Brothers and Dormeuil, to inspire the world-class bespoke tailors of Savile Row. Members of the public will also learn more about the qualities of wool and why it is revered as a sustainable, natural fibre.

This bi-annual competition between teams from Europe and the United States will be defended this year by USA. The competition began following an exhibition match in 1926 between a team comprising American professionals against a similar one drawn from the British PGA.

The first competition took place in 1927 and is named after the person who donated the Cup, Samuel A Ryder, an English seed merchant.

Dame Shirley Bassey completes the line up of stunning performers set for Welcome to Wales, The 2010 Ryder Cup celebration concert at the Millennium Stadium on 29 September 2010, hosted by TV presenter Steve Jones.

Steve will introduce performances from Dame Shirley Bassey, Katherine Jenkins, Lostprophets, Only Men Aloud and Shaheen Jafargholi and The Mark Jermin Stage School. Guest presenter Catherine Zeta Jones will make a welcome return to her homeland to deliver a special opening address for this very special opening concert in celebration of The 2010 Ryder Cup.

The audience will also see both the European and United States Teams officially introduced to the audience during the 90 minute televised show.

Lambourghini, the Italian supercar manufacturer has released a single teaser image which could be the Lamborghini Murcielago replacement . The company says this teaser is part of a series of six which will get published until this mystery Lamborghini will get unwrapped at the 2010 Paris Motor Show on September 30th at 7:45 am.

The next model is rumored to be named the Lamborghini Jota and various sources have reported that it will be able to hit a maximum speed of 230 mph while weighting less by around 300 lbs when compared to the Murcielago.

The all new Land Rover Evoque will debut in Paris. Launched in Land Rovers 40th anniversary year, the Evoque will be the smallest, lightest and most fuel efficient Range Rover ever produced, capable of 130g/km of CO ₂ emissions.

Citroen will unveil its new luxury compact  DS4 model –  a five-door hatchback with coupe styling.

Bugatti will bring the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. The new version of the Veyron was able to enter the Guinness Book of Records, reaching speeds of 431 km/h. The Veyron will be sold in extremely limited production, but it will be capped at 415 km/h, or 257.8 mph, just over 10 mph short of the actual record speed it reached. The car  is equipped with an engine of 1,200 horsepower and 1500 Nm.

The first five cars out of assembly will be sold as part of a limited series called the “World Record Edition.”  Each of these will be in black exposed carbon with an orange finish.  This first series has already sold out.

Porsche announces the new 911 Carrera GTS. It offers a power output of 408 hp, outstanding vehicle dynamics and emphatically sporty equipment. 23 hp more than the 911 Carrera S enable the new GTS – available as Coupé and Cabriolet – with 3.8-litre engine to close the gap up to the 911 GT3 with 435 hp.
